打补丁:

Literally means:

buding put patch (on garment, etc.); remedy defect; act as assistant

Actually means:

It means stitching a small piece of cloth on a worn garment,shoe or hat, or mending or filling up the small cracks or holes on other things to prevent them from leaking.

It figuratively means remedying a defect or a flaw.

It means giving somebody a hand or acting as an assistant to somebody.

在破损的衣物、鞋帽上缝上一小块儿布,或在其他东西的小裂缝、小破洞上打上可以填补的东西，以避免有漏洞。
