Definition
次 and 遍 both are verbal measure words to indicate "the repetition of an action". 遍 also stresses the course of the action.
Example
次 can be applied to the formal reoccurrence of major events; while 遍 cannot be so used.

次 can make up phrases; while 遍 cannot make up such phrases.
