多么

多么 is an Adverb, which means “how (wonderful etc); what (a great)”.

Similarities and dissimilarities between the adverb 多(么) and other adverbs of degree 很, 非常, 特别, 太, 真, etc.

1. Similarities: These adverbs of degree can all stress a great degree by qualifying directly some adjectives or verbs. For example：

多(么)累 =很累

多(么)漂亮 =很漂亮

多(么)希望 =很希望

多(么)有能力 =真有能力

2. Dissimilarities: 多(么), used in an exclamatory sentence, expresses exclamation and the sentence usually ends with a modal particle 啊 and an exclamation mark;很, etc. are used in a statement and there is usually a full stop at the end of the sentence. For example:

那位护士多(么)细心哪！ 

这个地方的名胜古迹多(么)吸引人啊！

多(么) cannot be used together with other adverbs of degree. For example:

那位护士多(么) 很细心哪！ （NOK）

她多(么) 非常希望来北京留学呀！ （NOK）
