里

Location words

Location words are words denoting directions or locations. Location words in Chinese include the following:

东/ 西 / 南 / 北 / 前 / 后 / 左 / 右 / 上 / 下 / 里 / 外+边 （biān ）

1. The monosyllabic noun of locality 里 is usually used after other nouns.

屋里 / 楼里 / 教室里 / 大厅里

2.The used of 里(边):

we should pay attention to the used of 里(边) when it is used to express the meaning of 在……里边。

1)里(边) cannot be added after the names of countries and places, For example,

we can’t say 在中国里 (NOK)  在北京里边  (NOK)  

we can say 在中国 (OK)  在北京(OK)

2) 里(边) can be used after nouns indicating containers. For example,

书在书包里边。(OK)

钱在钱包里。(OK)

3. Nouns of the locality can be used as various elements of a sentence. when a noun of locality serves as the subject or adverbial adjunct in a sentence, the preposition 在 is not used before it. For example :

1)里边有个人。

2)教室里面有很多学生。

3)里边是我的房间。

"您里边请" means 请您里边请. We can't say 您在里边请
