What linguistic educational platform is ideal for you?

Hi, I'm a Chinese learner here. I'm using Duolingo and Youtube for lessons. Duolingo helps best with learning vocab, phrases, training my listening and pronunciation. Youtube helps to explain grammar points and some more technical matters (like how to correctly produce certain sounds or different ways of saying the same thing to different people). And I listen to podcasts on the go as a way of passive learning.

I'm a student here. I usually listen to podcasts to learn languages. I've heard many podcasts, but the one I like best is from innovativelanguage.com. There are so many languages there to choose from. I like the way they manage the course. For example, if you want to memorize a speech for traveling, you can listen to survival phrases or absolute beginner lessons. If you like to learn grammar, you can choose beginner lessons and go all the way to advanced lessons. They make them so fun to listen to and it is easy to follow.

If you are looking for a structured, comprehensive course that covers grammar, vocabulary, and speaking skills, I think Babbel is a not-bad language-learning platform that offers courses in over 13 languages.
For someone who wants to focus on vocabulary acquisition, they can try Memrise, which is a free language-learning app that uses spaced repetition and gamification to help users learn and retain new words and phrases.
And, Rosetta Stone is a paid language-learning platform that uses an immersive, image-based approach to language learning. It's great for those who want to learn a language in a more natural, intuitive way.
Anyway, I think any platform should offer high-quality materials that are relevant and up-to-date. Additionally, it's important for the platform to offer a variety of materials, such as video lessons, interactive exercises, and writing prompts, to cater to different learning styles.

I used quite a few platforms to learn languages ( at least basics for some other languages ) and I'd say that repetition, use of the vocab throughout the lessons ( repetition of the grammar too ) to review it while learning new rules is key to acquire them ( by reading ). To make it short: reading, possiby with the audio ( best if it's an interview ) using diverse, more complex phrases.

I am not learning Chinese but I am studying to become a certified language teacher. As a matter of fact, I have some experience using various platforms to learn either a human language or a computer programming language.

Interaction is a must. When learning a programming language, I realized I would rather pay for a course that has an interactive interface: you can code by passively reading books or watching tutorial videos. However, you have to remember you learn a tool/a programming language to create your own project. That means you have to code and make a lot of mistakes along the way so you can build up a good toolkit for future use. It is very important to get feedback for your mistakes and find solutions immediately (if the code breaks).

Ideally, a good enough amount of free contents. Freebies always make my day.

*A Strong Sense of Community
I think it will make my learning journey more enjoyable when I know there is a community of fellow learners on the platfroms. There must be a place for all learners or even teachers to communicate openly. We learn from each other and support each other. Some courses have their official websites but also they provide other social media platforms for Q & A. At the moment, I am taking a couple of free programming courses created by University of Helsinki (Finland). The courses are not easy for a math phobia like me. However, I know I can take it slow and monitor my own progress to adjust learning strategies. Since I have joined the school's Discord channel, I can talk with other course takers regarding any issue. The sense of communty makes me feel less alone when doing my self-learning.
