One helpful resource for listening is Pimsleur. You do have to invest in this program/app (about $15-20 per month)

Pimsleur puts a strong emphasis on listening skills. It's not just passive listening though. They encourage you to repeat after the narrator.

Hello Kimmy, a good way can be to watch tv or drama in Chinese. Also you can often listen chinese song that you like and try sing it. Doing things you like and you will improove quickly. Also you can try to watch or listen kids cartoon or stories. Keep going !!!

@MAT Yes, that will help. At first, it's normal not to understand everything. But after a certain period of listening and perseverance, you'll make great progress. By listening to and watching TV and films, your ear and brain will become familiar with pronunciation and intonation. You only have to look at how quickly children adapt without going to language classes; they very quickly learn with their environment. Keep practising and listening to as many different sources as possible and you'll see some great progress after a few months. Good practice.

Hi, try to find topics that are the same or similar to what you have learned, and try to understand what they are saying. Chinese covers various topics such as business, travel, life, hobbies, etc., so it's essential to find relevant topics. Otherwise, you might have difficulty understanding what the video or audio is discussing.

@Kimmylayyne I tried on my students, and mostly they can understand the topic that we have covered.
For example: when traveling (asking the directions), they can understand and answer the question.

There is a feature in WeChat called 夜听 which is a narration of certain stories or interesting anecdotes which you can listen to like an audiobook while you are busy doing something else.

Watch simple videos in Chinese, especially those made for children. You need to listen more to improve your listening, which will help you in understanding and speaking. For books, you can consider HSK or YCT. I find YCT an interesting book for beginners.

你可以请你的老师为你找到教材的录音,课后多听,不禁能帮你复习课上内容,也能提高你的听力。然后你可以多看看一些中文视频。
