管家婆:

Literally means:

a woman housekeeper; a housewife who cares about all business.

Actually means:

It refers to woman housekeeper in old times holding high position in a wealthy family to supervise the household affairs.

It now jocularly refers to housewife. Especially, it refers to a woman who keeps all members of the family under her control or who minds all the trivial affairs of the household.

It may also refer to leader who acts like a woman housekeeper. It has a connotation that one cannot stand such people.

管家婆，旧时在有钱人家里管理家务的高级女仆。

现戏称家庭主妇。它特指对家务事什么都要管，对家里的人管得太紧，太细的女人。

也指类似管家婆的领导人。含有令人难以接受的意味。
