眼不见为净

眼不见为净:

Literally means:

what the eye doesn't see doesn't hurt

Actually means:

Without seeing how the food is actually prepare one tends to take it for granted that such food is clean.

It also means that one has no choice but to turn away, though he does not approve of someone or something.

In the former sense, it is often used to console oneself, and in the latter sense, it implies that has to take an evasive attitude towards some thing or someone in order to avoid conflict.

没有亲眼看到食品在制作时脏不脏，吃的时候就觉得干净。

也指对某人或某事心里不赞同，但又没有办法。

后一种意思则表明，在不得，只好撇开不管。前一种意思多用于自我安慰已时采用回避的态度来处理矛盾。
