炒鱿鱼

Literally means:

fry cuttlefish

Actually means:

sack/fire somebody

Squid curls up after being fried in the wok.

It figuratively means that the boss sacks the employee. Since the sacked person needs to collect his/her stuff, among which is the rolled-up quilt that looks quite like a curled-up squid.

鱿鱼在锅里一炒，就会卷起来。

比喻老板解雇员工。被辞退的人离开指时总要收拾东西，其中卷铺盖就好比卷起的鱿鱼。
