想不开

Literally means:

be unable to resign oneself to a situation

Actually means:

take things too hard

It means that one cannot get over an unpleasant thing.

It is often used to indicate that the person is so preoccupied with the unpleasant thing that he may even do something irrational, like suicide. The opposite of this phrase is 想得开.

无法忘记不如意、不顺心的事，心里老是想着它们。

多用来指无法消除不平的情绪。有时还用来引出当事人的某些不理智的行为（如自杀）。相对于“想得开”。
