四不像

Literally means:

neither fish nor fowl

Actually means:

nondescript

The male elk is called 四不像 (like none of the four animals). It does not look like any of the four animals, though judging from its head, it looks lik a camel; its horn resembles that of a deer; its tail resembles that of donkey and its hooves resemble those of an ox. It figuratively refers to something that does not conform to any convention or standard. Derogatory.

雄性麋鹿的头像骆驼，角像鹿，尾巴像驴，蹄子鹿的像牛，但整个来看都不像这四种动物的任何一种，所以叫四不像。

比喻不合规范，或不像样子的东西或情况具有贬义色彩。
