哼哈二将

哼哈二将:

Literally means:

Generals Heng enerals (Snorting) and Ha (Yawning); invincible partners

Actually means:

The two generals are believed to be two Buddhist divinities guarding temple gates. General Heng subdues enemy by exhaling white gas from his nostrils while General Ha catches enemy by exhaling yellow gas from his mouth. In a figurative sense the phrase refers to a pair of well-cooperating partners with different ways of conduct.

It refers to those who work as guards, chaperone, monitor and etc.

佛教传说中的两名守护寺庙的神将，哼将的鼻子能哼出白色气体制服敌人，哈将的嘴巴能哈出黄气捉住敌人。比喻行为方式不同而能配合得很好的一对搭档。
