不看僧面看佛面

Literally means:

even if you do not show respect for the monk's feelings, you should show respect for the Buddha's feelings

Actually means:

do something for somebody out of consideration or reverence for semebody else of greater importance

僧, also Sengjia refers to monk; 佛, also Fotuo refers to Buddha. In Buddhism, monk is a person in cultivation; Buddha is a person who has already succeeded in cultivation and has higher ranking than a monk.

It means it is necessary to consider the face of another more important person if not for this person's sake. Metaphorically it refers to request seeking a pardon or help for somebody or the petitioner himself/herself out of consideration of or reverence for somebody else. It also means that things are easier with the help of contacts.

“僧”和“佛”分别为“僧伽”和“佛陀”的简称。在佛教中，僧时正在修行的人；佛时修为圆满的人，地位比僧高。

不看僧面看佛面，指不看那方面的情面，也要看这方面的情面。比喻请求人家看在第三者的情面上帮忙或者宽恕某人或求情者本人。也用来指有了熟人就好办事。
