Hello !
I was looking for a way to translate my name into Chinese... In vain 😢 I've already read everything I can find, and it seems that the symbol "星" isn't used in a name.

So I'm looking for a pretty girl's name that means "Star" (the ones in the sky, not the celebrities 🥴). The name can be a variation like "splendid star," "shining star," etc. The name "star" is the most important. Any suggestions ?

Thank you so much!

My story conclusion:
I have a Chinese name for long time and a just learning about it.

I have a Chinese acquaintance.
I show her this page and learn that she's already "give" me a name 😳
So, I'm 黛 Dài !
We were in a hurry, so I didn't have time to ask her why this name. But I love it !!😍
No stars, I know. 🤷🏼‍♀️

What do you think ? All information and suggestions regarding the name Dài/黛 are welcome.

Thank you.

"Chinese names have a strong meaning, and parents spend a lot of time choosing them. The meanings are very deliberate. Children are named after attributes like "fire" or qualities like "loyalty", rather than a name that sounds the best.

Chinese names are, in fact, as long-standing and esteemed as Chinese culture itself.

Choosing a name in China is a serious and time-consuming process, as in all countries. But only in China and a few other Asian countries does a culture exist around names."

So, use qualities or attributes of personality for "getting" a name instead of trying to translate yours literally, which it is a very bad idea.

From the aspect of culture and langugage, the name in Chinese is trying to convey the meaning in a consise way (uaually in one or two characters). The character 星 itself has 日/"Sun" on the top and 生“birth” on the bottom, we could find many different characters means stars but without the exact character 星, which means we don't have to use the character star in the name but use many other characters to describe the splendidness and brightness of the star will be great name in Chinese. For instance:
皓,means the brightness/whiteness when the sun/star comes out. This character used to be commonly used in male name but now is becoming more unisexual. 璨,means the glory/light from stars. (unisexual).
Since Chinese usually use moon for female name, 朗、婵、胧、明、玥、霄晖,are all good choices using in names. In addition, many characters can be used to express the splendidness of stars, I only left the character used in female names here: 曦、灿、煜、昭、晶、晴。

@estelle.r0y.qc Lol. How about 璨曦? Beautiful and splendid star. Now we do not handwrite that much, otherwise it is a name with lots of strokes. lol

Hello! You're looking for a pretty Chinese girl's name that means "star" or includes a star-related meaning. You're right that "星" (xīng), while meaning "star," isn't commonly used alone as a given name. However, there are several beautiful Chinese names that incorporate the star concept!

Here are some lovely Chinese female names related to stars:

1. **明星** (Míng Xīng) - "Bright Star"
2. **星辰** (Xīng Chén) - "Star" (more poetic form)
3. **星月** (Xīng Yuè) - "Star and Moon"
4. **星蕾** (Xīng Lěi) - "Star Bud"
5. **星华** (Xīng Huá) - "Splendid Star" or "Star's Radiance"
6. **星瑶** (Xīng Yáo) - "Star Jade" (implying precious and beautiful)
7. **星灵** (Xīng Líng) - "Star Spirit"
8. **星璇** (Xīng Xuán) - "Star Whirl" (refers to the rotating motion of stars)
9. **星澜** (Xīng Lán) - "Star Waves" (poetic comparison of stars to ripples)
10. **星雅** (Xīng Yǎ) - "Elegant Star"

While "星" might not be common alone as a name, it's perfectly acceptable as part of a two-character name as shown above. These combinations not only incorporate the meaning of "star" but also add beautiful, complementary qualities.

•星星 🤦🏼‍♀️ "Star" but as a name: no !

•流星 "shooting star" looks bad, like the first one

•璀璨的星星"" 😬😳
😣 arg ! None of this sounds like a name! Right ?

I saw 晨星"Chao-Xing" meaning "MorningStar". Closer. Does that sound ridiculous ?🥺

Help, please !😶
