How to teach foreigners to write article?

I have one student who is 9 years old.Her Chinese is very bad and only knows the simple words or sentences to write article. She also doesn't like reading Chinese book and very lazy. Could you let me know how to teach this kind of student? Do you have any reference book for me? She is mixed-blood child but her mother could speak with her in Chinese.
