To me the most important part about learning Mandarin is vocabluary. So to begin you should learn about tones, and pronunciation. After doing those two you are ready to start learning vocabulary. I suggest using a flashcard app like Anki (there is a free version for android called Ankidroid) to make flashcard decks which you can use to practice and learn everyday

汉语不难 hehee you just practice everyday, learn new letters. Every day, you have to practice writing letters so that you don't forget the words you have learned. And if you want to remember more easily, make sentences with the words you just learned.
