The punctuation marks are important, too.
Take this example
1.假设他们至少具有一种想法合乎逻辑
1.Assume that they have one or more logical thoughts.
2.假设他们至少具有一种想法,合乎逻辑。
2.Assuming that they have one or more thoughts is logical
The two Chinese sentences consist of the same characters and have the same words order, but their meanings are different.
Of course, the language Chinese does have grammar but its grammar is totally different from Indio-European languages which have complex declination and conjugation.
Chinese has strict word order and lots of functional words.
For example:
The Earth-Moon system is constituted by the earth and the moon.
1.地月系构成由地球和月球。
2.地月系由地球和月球构成。
3.由地球和月球构成地月系。
The Earth-Moon system=地月系
the earth=地球
the moon=月球
by=由
is constituted=构成
