Dating in Beijing for Western Women

I survey some western women in Beijing and found that dating in Beijing is not easy. Finding a boyfriend is so difficult in Beijing, even you can’t get a one-night stand. So don’t expect anything. As a western woman, you can’t be in a relationship here. 

The boys’ attitude in Beijing 

For foreigner women, Beijing is not a relationship place. There are too many conflicts. However, for western guys, Beijing is like a never-ending spring break. It is very simple to find a girlfriend in Beijing.

Finding a relationship in Beijing is not very difficult for western guys. Many guys have to find girlfriends here. They are living here for years and go through dating for over a year. But when the relationship happens, one or both partners have to move away from Beijing. It is so awful. 

What is dating in Beijing really like?

In Beijing typical dating is going out for a movie or dinner, having some drink, and talking or some kissing. This kind of dating even occurs before having sex. However, it is not very common in Beijing. 

Short casual flings or one-night stands seem a tradition. Most guys like short-term relationships. Every two months they want to move on to the next woman.

Even though a man has a wife or girlfriend, he won’t prevent going after other women. Similarly, women including Chinese girls don’t deter from finding a boyfriend, even knowing that the guy won’t be with her. Therefore Beijing is not a place for a relationship.

However, I have seen many single women in Beijing. It is not that they are boring, clingy, ugly, or have any major faults. They are single just because they don’t want to be in a relationship. 

In Beijing guys often enjoy incredible attention from both Chinese and Western women. They enjoy all types of women as they have a huge choice. They don’t like to live with limits; they think why to limit themself when it is so easy to have many girlfriends. And when they have to move out of Beijing, they end up in a relationship that may not have a future. So it seems the guy’s point of view about Beijing as a long spring break is right. 

Western people like to be independent and having new experiences. So they meet new people just to have fun rather than finding a life partner. However, the life-goals of Chinese people are based around searching for a life partner, having kids, and starting their family. So when you are dating a Chinese guy, you should be aware that he probably considers getting married to you.

Going out as Single Woman

For women, Beijing is quite a safe city, so you can easily go out alone or with your boyfriend. But you need to be careful in the bar areas at night. Some guys may hunt you after having a drink. 

If you are a smiley person with a positive vibe, you may get hit a lot on the roads. However, most guys are not bad, when you are not interested they take it no and move to the next girl. 

Sex and the city

In Beijing, some Western guys easily find sex, and others don’t find it even after struggling. It is not a matter of personality or looks; it seems more hooked on the crowd you haunt with. The younger and students guys seem to prefer local Chinese girls. Western guys prefer both Chinese and Western women generally they are just interested in women. Some guys are even interested in older women. 

Beijing’s ex-pat community is very small. People know each other. Sometimes casual relationships with foreigners can be quite incestuous. So you may need to choose carefully.
