Name: International Children's Day
Data: June 1st
Children's
day is a festival in China for the children, celebrated all over the world on June 1st. In
August 1925, the government from 54 countries crowded together in Geneva,
Switzerland, to hold the international conference for children's contentment
and protection and they approved a document for the conservation of children.
This document occupied different aspects of children's affairs, including the
spiritual activities of children, the assistance of poor children, the
prevention of dangerous work for children, children's achievement of making a
source of revenue, and how to hoist and educate children, etc.
Ever
since this meeting, representatives of different countries had sequentially set
Children's Day to motivate children and make them cheerful, and also to stir up
the entire society's interest in the safety of children.
This international
Children's day festival introduce during world war
II. In June 1942, German Fascists killed about 140 villagers of 16 years old
and all the children in the village of Czechoslovakia and took hold of all the
women and 90 babies to a concentration campsite.
To express grief for
the children who murdered in the village and all around the world in the
anti-Fascist war, and to be against the imperialistic warmonger killing
children, and to protect children's constitutional rights for survival, health
care, and education, the international democratic society of women, held a
gathering of its administrative committee in Moscow in November 1949. They
officially made a pledge to celebrate Children's Day as a festival all over the
world.
Since
1931, according to the instruction of China's charity society, Children's day
had been celebrated every year on April 4th. But after the establishment of
PRC, the fundamental government-regulated in 1949 that the Children's day would
be celebrated on June 1st.
Now, the
representatives of all countries concern about children's future and
privileges. In 1990, the UN approved the agreement of children's civil rights.
China is one of the countries that took part in planned out the agreement and
signed on it.
When the government
authorized the agreement for children's rights protection, China passed the law
for the non-adult safety of the PRC, which played a lively role in defending
children's civil rights. Under government concern, the entire society has taken
the responsibility to protect and educate children. They try to give them a good
life, education, and health care facilities so that the children can grow up
happily and healthily.
Currently, Children's
day is celebrated on June 1st, and all the children under the age of 13 have a
holiday. As the children usually go to parks, pleasure grounds, zoos, museums
or science, and technology exposition together with their parents to enjoy the
holiday. Several children take part in different activities like the competition
of Chinese calligraphy and drawing in children's activity centers, and the
children absolutely enjoy themselves in this social event of their own.
Although there are no particular traditions in China linked to Children's day celebrations. It is considered as a day to be grateful for the children in the whole world. Love is normally expressed by spending the entire day with children in the company of their favorite games, meal, and visiting spots.
