一 背 bei1
1. 他把病人背到医院。
背 means to carry something on one's back,e.g. , 背米，背背包，背行李,etc. It also mean to carry something over one's shoulder, e.g. 背书包，背照相机，etc.

Here "背“ refers to being responsible for some duty or debt, e.g. 背债. 背 can also be pronounce bei4,with different meandings.
